Frequently Asked Questions
Please read through the FAQ before booking and before your appointment. When submitting a deposit the FAQ acts as a contractual agreement regarding booking/deposit/rescheduling/preparation protocol.
What is the design process like?
I begin the design process 72-24 hours before our scheduled session. This ensures that the design is fresh in my mind and my hand and allows for the best possible application. I may contact you during this window of time to dial in any elements I am unsure of. I will show you your design the day of your session in person, at this time we can make amendments if needed. (This policy protects me from design theft).
This is an inclusive and safe space.
My vision is to curate a safe inclusive space where people’s gender identity, skin color, body size/shape and sexual preference is celebrated & welcomed for its uniqueness and beauty.
What is the deposit policy?
A non refundable deposit of $200 or half of the total tattoo will be taken to hold the desired date of your tattoo session, this is required immediately to hold your tattoo date; if no deposit is given then the session will not be reserved. The deposit ensures security to continue with the design and to prepare for your tattoo session. The deposit will transfer to 1 reschedule if necessary (please communicate this with as much time as possible so that your appointment slot can be filled).
What is the cancellation/rescheduling policy?
I understand that life happens and last minute things can come up. I too occasionally need to move things around. For this reason as long as there is communication I am more than happy to accommodate a reschedule, or temporarily put your sessions on hold. More than 1 reschedule and the deposit may be forfeited (I do my best to work with my clients in the case of personal or family emergency). A no call no show is an immediate forfeited deposit. If you need to reschedule more than once you may be asked to put a new deposit down to book a new session.
What type of projects am I currently looking to tattoo?
My current focus areas are: (Exclusively Black & Grey)
- Realism
- Portraits
- Pet Portraits
- Still life’s
- Landscapes / Seascapes
- Ornamental Lettering projects
- Any combination of the above mentioned
- I have a number of available concepts to choose from as well
What are the pricing policies?
I am commonly asked to give an estimate on project time and cost. I must remind you that although I try my best to accurately give an estimate to prepare you for the time/cost of your tattoo a lot of things factor in and occasionally projects will take shorter or longer than the project estimate. IF THIS IS THE CASE THE ESTIMATE IS NOT THE STANDARD THE HOURLY RATE IS. This means that if I over estimated you will pay less than quoted and if I under estimated your invoice will be higher than the quote.
I do my best to give accurate estimates but ultimately I am paid by the hour. If something takes a little longer to finesse I would rather take my time and do the best possible work I can than pinch the clock.
Thank you graciously for understanding.
TATTOO PRE-CARE: How do you prepare yourself for our session?
- Please eat a good meal before you arrive for your appointment.
- During the week leading up to your session make sure to drink lots of water and moisturize the area of skin that will be tattooed. I can’t stress enough how much this helps the quality of your tattoo during the application and healing process.
- Get a good nights rest the night before your appointment, tattoos are exhausting especially the longer sessions and sleep is your friend!
- Do not drink excessively the night before your session.
- Do not come in with a sunburn, we will need to reschedule you at a time when your skin is not traumatized.
- Do not come in for your appointment if you are on antibiotics, I am more than happy to reschedule your service for a time when your body isn’t healing.
- Do not shave the area of skin yourself,
- Do not use numbing creams without first consulting with me.
What should I bring to my tattoo session?
- Please wear loose fitting comfortable clothes, feel free to bring an extra set as well! It is completely normal for your body temperature to fluctuate during a tattoo and sweating is likely to occur, don’t worry everyone sweats there is no judgement here!
- Please choose clothes that are darker in color as tattoo ink can spill or splash, I would hate to ruin your new white shirt!
- I encourage you to bring a large water and snacks depending on the duration of your session.
- Headphones are excellent as well so that you have the freedom to zone out in your own world if you desire.
- Comfort pillows or blankets are also welcome, especially if you get cold or have a longer session.
*If you have any questions feel free to ask me during our consult!
What should I not bring to my tattoo session?
- Please leave your children and animals at home or with the sitter. Tattoo shops are no place for little ones as they pose a danger and distraction to themselves and to the working artists.
- Please do not bring alcohol or drugs to your session. I will not tattoo anyone under the influence. (*Marijuana is the exception)
What are places & things I will NOT Tattoo?
- NO feet
- NO palms or soles
- NO racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist or oppressive symbol or imagery
- Hands, Fingers, and Faces are on a case by case basis.
What is the photography policy?
Photos will be taken at the end of each session (with the exception of greater skin irritations). These photos are the intellectual/creative property of Lee Rose and will be posted to various platforms. If you do not wish to have your photo published please say so, this will always be respected.
When a photo is not published it is most likely due to bad photography, poor lighting or incongruency with portfolio aesthetic and style.
What are the payment options?
Accepted forms of payment: CASH IS ALWAYS PREFERRED. Cashapp, Venmo and PayPal. Debit and Credit cards are accepted (expect a 3% processing fee). And I offer financing options through AfterPay (set up an account to know what your credit line is and how much AfterPay will cover for you so that we can set up a payment plan for your budget).
